Hildebrand Press Announcement

The Hildebrand Project is pleased to announce that we hereby dedicate the launch of the Hildebrand Press to our dear friend, Alice von Hildebrand.

The Hildebrand Project has benefited from Alice von Hildebrand’s constant encouragement and generous support since our founding in 2004. Our growth has been made possible by her visible role in the Hildebrand Project, her generous benefactions, and her faithful collaboration in all aspects of our work. Our dedication of the launch of the Hildebrand Press is an expression of our deep gratitude to Alice von Hildebrand.

The Hildebrand Press will publish the works of Dietrich von Hildebrand and give voice to contemporary authors who carry on the tradition of Hildebrand, Karol Wojtyla, and others thinkers who have enriched the Western and Christian understanding of the human person.

The Hildebrand Press debuts with a new edition of Liturgy and Personality, one of Dietrich von Hildebrand’s most influential and beloved books, and the first English-language translation of Aesthetics: Volume I, Hildebrand’s major study on beauty and art.

Forthcoming titles from the Hildebrand Press include new translations of Hildebrand’s Aesthetics: Volume II and Morality and Ethical Value Knowledge, as well as new editions of Hildebrand’s What is Philosophy?, In Defense of Purity, and Ethics.

Dietrich von Hildebrand (1889-1977) was a seminal philosopher known for his works in ethics, aesthetics, social philosophy, and philosophy of religion. He was one of Europe’s most outspoken voices against Nazism and Communism. A convert to Catholicism, he had a profound impact on the thought and life of the Church in the twentieth century.

Alice von Hildebrand (b. 1923) was for nearly four decades professor of philosophy at Hunter College in New York City. A beloved writer, speaker, and television personality, no one has done more than she to introduce the legacy of her late husband Dietrich von Hildebrand to a broad public.

The Hildebrand Press is an initiative of the Hildebrand Project, which advances, through publications, academic programs, and public events, the vital tradition of twentieth century thinkers who have enriched the Western and Christian vision of the human person.
